A 20 year study looked at the social habits of 5000 men and women (Archives of Internal Medicine). 4 “bad habits” were shown to age one’s perceived appearance (as well as increase the risks for illness and mortality) by an average of 12 years or more! :
- Smoking/Tobacco Use
- Alcohol Consumption (more than 2 glasses a day for women, more than 3 glasses a day for men)
- Inactivity (less than 2 hours of exercise or sports a week)
- Diet Deficient in Vegetable/Fruit Intake (less than a serving of either with every meal).
